DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER

The BS6 Vehicles have the following in the Exhaust After Treatment System (EATS)

DOC – Diesel Oxidizing Catalyst – To oxidize Carbon Monoxide & Hydrocarbons
DPF – Diesel Particulate Filter – To trap Particulate Matter (PM) also known as Soot
SCR – Selective Catalytic Reduction – To convert NOx (Nitrogen Oxides into Nitrogen & Water)

HOW DOES DPF WORKS?

City Driven Vehicles tend to have a problem reaching Higher Temperatures. Soot build-up causes dashboard warning lights – if ignored, the DPF can become clogged.
If the DPF is clogged around 80%, the whole DPF has to be removed and cleaned with special equipment or the DPF needs to be replaced which is expensive
